Rabbi Raphael Kanter

Rabbi Raphael Kanter has been the spiritual
leader of Tifereth Israel Congregation since 1997. A native of Sharon,
Massachusetts, he attended the Solomon Schechter Day School and
Maimonides Day School. He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from
the University of Pennsylvania. He is a 1992 graduate of the Rabbinical
School of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America and he also holds
a Master of Arts from the Jewish Theological Seminary and a
Master of Education degree in psychological counseling from Columbia
University. Rabbi Kanter became a rabbi because "I love Judaism. I have
always had an intense interest in Jewish tradition and the life of the
mitzvot. I decided that I wanted to teach the Jewish way of life which
commits a Jew to living Torah and being a symbol of God in the world."
Rabbi Kanter and his wife, Cindy Benson, have three children, Rebecca,
Eli and Micah.

Nathaniel Schudrich

Cantor
Nathaniel Schudrich is the chazzan of our congregation. He attended
grade school at the Hebrew Academy of Suffolk County. He holds a
Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University in psychology. Prior to
joining Tifereth Israel, he was Assistant Cantor at B'nai Israel in
Rockville, Maryland and Baal Koreh and teacher at Har-Tzeon in
Silver Spring, Maryland. Cantor Schudrich studied chazzanut
and voice privately with Cantor Robert Kieval and Elizabeth Daniels. He
is a member of the Cantors' Assembly. He and his wife, Melynda, live in
New Bedford with their three children, David, Asher and Ezra.

Rabbi
Talya Weisbard Shalem
is the Educational Director of the Ziskind School of Judaism. Growing
up, she attended Hebrew Schools in Wisconsin
and New Jersey. She holds a bachelor's
degree in anthropology from Harvard College and received her rabbinical degree
from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. She has spent much time in Israel and loves to speak Hebrew, so feel free to
practice on her. She served as
student rabbi in the Virgin Islands andPittsburgh. She has extensive experience in
Jewish education, having worked with learners from
ages 3 through adult. Some of her favorite teaching topics include "The
Dark Side of Jewish Holidays,"
"Yiddishisms and Jewish insults," and "Jewish Liturgy in
Historical Perspective." Rabbi Talya currently serves
as the campus rabbi at Wellesley College. She lives
with her husband, Josh Schreiber Shalem, in Medford, Massachusetts.

Milton Goodman is the Executive Director.
He is the former President of Temple Aliyah in Needham, Massachusetts.
He also served as a Board Member for the Bureau of Jewish
Education in Newton, MA and as a Board Member of United Synagogue. Mr.
Goodman holds a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and a B.A. from
Boston University. Milton and his family reside in Braintree.
